SERVICES OFFERED: Adult Education Services are provided to community members who reside on the Pueblo of Acoma Reservation. The program provides Acoma community adults an awareness of certain educational needs and opportunities that will strengthen and expand cultural, intellectual and social development/occupational competence. Adults are assisted with GED requirements, through GED classes held at the NM State University – Grants Branch. Transportation for GED students is provided daily. Classes cover preparation/remedial basic education in math, learning to read, learning to write, and computer literacy; GED classes are held on the following days: Mon. – Thurs. from 5 to 8 p.m.
SPECIAL FEATURES: The program will pay for GED testing fees and provide transportation to the GED testing sites. The program also assists with payment of tuition and fees at NMSU/Grants, Central New Mexico Community College and University of New Mexico for tribal members who need to enhance job and personal skills. Areas covered are special short courses and/or training, and tuition and textbook assistance is available for three or four credit hour college classes.
